We recently customised a set of our Pure Carbon Whitewater range fin blades for the UK Paralympic gold medal winner, Ellie Simmonds. Hanli Prinsloo of I Am Water Foundation had contacted us to request that we customise a set of fin blades that would not only suit Ellie's height and physique but would also cater for her smaller than average foot size as there are very few very small foot pockets available for Freedivers with smaller than average feet and even less custom options available. After quite a bit of research and head-scratching on our part, we designed a custom option for her that allowed us to customise an existing foot pocket so that Ellie would have the correct fit and support while using her fins while Freediving with dolphins in Mozambique for the ITV film, Swimming with Dolphins:
Ellie Simmonds: Swimming with Dolphins This 1 x 60 minute heart-warming film, made by IWC Media, follows Paralympic gold medal winner Ellie Simmonds as she pursues her lifelong dream of swimming with dolphins in the wild. Ever since she was a child the image of a dolphin gliding through the water has inspired her own astonishing success in international swimming. But despite her skill and confidence in the pool, she must overcome a terrible fear of the sea if she is to fulfill her dreams. First, Ellie learns about the surprising array of dolphins around the UK. She then heads to Ponta do Ouro in Mozambique which is renowned as one of the best places in the world to interact with these magical creatures. With the help of free-diving expert Hanli Prinsloo, Ellie looks to finally overcome her fear of open water and realise her dream of swimming with these magnificent creatures. Ellie Simmonds said: "It's been a childhood ambition of mine to swim with dolphins and I'm thrilled to be able to take ITV viewers along for the ride. It was an amazing experience to make a show like this, meet some fascinating people and get the chance to make a dream that I had since I was a young child, finally come true.”
